Frequently Asked Questions
What are some of the common signs of vision problems?
If you, or a member of your family, is experiencing any of the following symptoms, it is recommended a vision analysis be scheduled as soon as possible.
- Blurred or double vision
 - Headaches, dizziness or nausea when focusing your vision
 - Problems adjusting focusing for near and distant
 - Limited attention span
 - Reading difficulties (particularly with small print)
 - The need to place your head close to written text
 - Excessive blinking

When should I have my eyes examined?
The appropriate amount of time between eye examinations will differ from person to person, and your optometrist will advise you on how often you will need to return for check-ups. However, regular check-ups are important, as eye-conditions often develop in a slow and subtle way, making early detection important.
If you have any concerns or questions about your vision, or you are due for a check-up, don't hesitate to contact our friendly optometrists today!
How does age affect 'normal' vision?
Different vision conditions commonly effect people at different ages. For example, short-sightedness often develops in teenagers. People in their 40s will gradually lose the ability to focus the lens within the eye. This natural condition is called presbyopia, and it effects people from their 40s to their 60s. A period of eye lens hardening commonly effects people in their 60s, resulting in greater near-sightedness. Cataracts frequently occur when people reach their 70s, though they can occur earlier.
Do you do kids’ eye tests?
Yes. We look after all aspects of children’s vision including glasses, contact lenses, sports glasses, and myopia control. Our standard eye tests are bulk billed.
Do you bulk bill?
Yes. We are a bulk-billing practice for standard eye exams. More in-depth testing or digital images may sometimes be required. These are not covered by Medicare and will incur an additional cost, which your optometrist will discuss with you during your test.
Do you do the free government glasses?
Yes. We participate in the Vision Australia program for glasses, available to eligible patients receiving full Centrelink benefits.
Do you do safety glasses?
Yes. We have a range of safety glasses available through PSG, with both metal and plastic frames. Options include single-vision or multifocal lenses in clear, transition, or sunglass varieties. These can be ordered privately or through your employer with an approved contract application.
Can I have my prescription in sunglasses, diving masks, or swimming goggles?
Yes. We can provide prescription sunglasses in a wide variety of frames and lenses, including polarised and non-polarised options. Prescription swimming goggles and diving masks are also available, as well as non-prescription alternatives.
